Howdy, I'm Tex! You might recognize me as the official Tex Ranger, here to investigate trails, supervise outdoor activities, and make sure everyone is having a good time. I'm a lanky Lab mix with a goofy smile, long legs, and a whole lot of curiosity about the world around me. I'm still very much a puppy at heart sometimes, and I'm learning that I don't have to operate at maximum speed every second of the day. My foster family has been helping me figure that out, and I've been doing an amazing job! I'm really starting to blossom and becoming such a fun, well-rounded guy.
I'm a pretty smart ranger, too. I know "sit," "off," "out" for dropping my toys, and "wait" for my food, followed by "free" when I'm released. I'm working on my recall, and I love a good game of fetch—but don't think that's all I need to be happy. Give me a nice long walk with my favorite person and I'm just as thrilled. I've also been getting some very important field experience at my foster mom's vet tech school! On days when I'm allowed to go, I greet everyone in class and then curl up beside her and sleep while she works. I've been doing wonderfully around the other dogs in the program, too. I've also done well with kids and other dogs outside of school, though sometimes I forget that my long legs come with a rather large wingspan and can accidentally bowl over smaller friends.
I'm looking for an active family who wants a companion for walks, adventures, training, and all the little things in between. I can be a little unsure of strangers at first, but I'm easily won over with a treat or two—everyone knows the fastest way to earn a Tex Ranger friendship badge is through snacks. Cats, unfortunately, are not part of my approved ranger territory. What I am looking for is someone who will keep teaching me, give me plenty of opportunities to use my brain and energy, and let me continue growing into the incredible dog I'm becoming. I'm ready to clock in for my next assignment: being your best friend.
