Hi, I'm Poppi! I'm very much a people's girl. Give me my person, a game of fetch, and some quality time together, and I'm a happy girl. I'm playful, affectionate, and confident, and I tend to form a particularly strong bond with the people I love. I'm also a pretty clever girl, which means I sometimes decide that if my humans aren't going to make a decision, I might as well make it for them. I'm looking for someone who is confident, consistent, and willing to give me the leadership I need so I don't feel like it's my job to run the show.
I'm good with kids and have done well with my foster cat, though it took me quite a while to become comfortable around her. Other dogs are a little more complicated for me. I'm generally neutral to friendly, but I can become nervous when dogs are moving around me, so I'll need someone who understands cattle-dog behavior and is willing to keep working with me. My rescue has found me to be generally good with other dogs, but because I can be especially attached to my person, I'd benefit from thoughtful introductions with someone who can help me focus on the dog rather than my human. I'm a fantastic girl with a lot of love to give—I just need a person who can help me put all that cattle-dog brain and enthusiasm to good use.
